We’re Hiring – Associate
About us
The Art Loss Register is the world’s largest private database of lost and stolen art. Its
range of services include the registration of losses, recovery services for the victims
of theft and looting, and due diligence searching for museums, collectors, and the
art trade. For more details, see our website at www.artloss.com.
The Role
We are looking for an Associate to support our work with auction houses, art fairs
and the wider art market. This is a varied, client-facing role with exposure to
different aspects of the business.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will manage and develop the ALR’s relationships with UK
auction houses, providing a high standard of customer service and acting as a key
point of contact for existing clients. They will prepare annual search reports and
manage yearly subscriptions, including calculating fees, issuing invoices,
processing subscription changes, and reporting on revenue. They will also identify
prospective clients and manage the process of onboarding new auction houses.
The Associate will also provide administrative and operational support for the ALR’s
work with art fairs. This will include drafting client contracts and reports, help
manage the ALR’s vetting service including chasing pre-vetting lists, responding to
exhibitor enquiries and issuing invoices. They will manage stand design and
marketing, attend international art fairs, and help identify and develop prospective
art fair clients.
The role will also involve supporting the ALR Recoveries team by reviewing items
offered for sale that have been flagged as possible matches to objects registered on
our database as stolen or otherwise subject to a claim. These may arise through the
ALR’s work with UK auction house and international fairs, as well as our wider
checks of the art market. The Associate will carry out detailed object-based
research, investigate and assess potential claims, and provide clear, succinct
summaries to senior members of the team.
